I am a fan of old TV shows. So I kinda feel like Hannibal on the A Team. Even though I don’t smoke a cigar I really feel like I should quote him right now..
“I love it when a plan comes together.”
The PAIN train keeps on rollin’. Today you guys should be getting a heaping helping of Sore Spots. If you are in the UK and were quick on the draw you got a jump on that too (shakes my fist at SCEE). You should also be playing with Daxter by now as well. A quick FYI, Daxter isn’t the last PlayStation character we will have in PAIN. I want to say thank you to Naughty Dog and Sony Foster City for loaning Daxter to us. We didn’t promise we would take care of him (he is launchable after all)… We did promise he would live to crack wise another day. This week is one of those weeks we feel especially happy because we get to prove how much we consider the input that comes from this site.
I haven’t forgotten our promise about a new site either. I SWEAR it’s being worked on. PAIN’s needs have changed dramatically and it calls for a more robust site. We are working on it. Things of that magnitude take more time than I like. Isn’t it odd how we can develop a game faster than a site? Don’t get me started. There are a few people I would like to LAUNCH to expedite that process.
PAINalympics is my favorite new mode. I had a fight with our Vice President over our Relay event. He wanted me to change some things (not all of them I agreed with) and the conversation ended with me having to make other alterations to the mode to make it more fun. While sometimes Mr. Rohde is not my favorite BOSS he often has some valid points. PAINalympics is a much better mode because he decided to needle us until we got it right. Bull ride is a million times better since Rohde gave it his Caesar-esque thumbs down on the first iteration.
The reason we decided to do a new add-on like Sore Spots is because you guys were up in arms about the lack of variety in the environments. Sometimes people don’t realize how much work goes into making one environment that does every mode. So instead we thought lets do two smaller ones and satisfy everyone’s need for variety. I think the new environments turned out rather well. There’s so much to do in these areas it’s just too fun! That area between 68 and 70 is my favorite. There’s just so much fun there. (Chuckle)
..I digress
The other changes you see in the menus and functionality are responses to the input from this board and the need to reorganize things based on PAINs growing features. Our lists of changes aren’t complete. We have some more functionality changes to make before we say we’re done DONE. As the PSN keeps allowing us to do new things PAIN will continue to evolve.
Thanks for sticking around people. It’s nice to have a home on this big ol INTERNETS! I’m very proud to have you guys in my virtual posse! I hope you guys enjoy the PAINalympic video. We had fun giving you shout outs. Look for them.
