OK folks, you’ve been patient with us as we’ve hinted here and there about the upcoming Sore Spots add-on environment, but now it’s time to break it right on down and give you the goods. As we’ve hinted before, Sore Spots IS going to be two separate environments. “But Coke, what will they BE?” Let’s take a look.
The first of the two is the gymnasium at Morningwood High school – home of the Cougars - where the PAIN class of 2007 is having a reunion. You’ll find two different layouts along with sort of a new twist on Fun With Explosives that we call Mad Science. In this Mode, your task is to mix different colored jugs of chemicals. They’re perfectly harmless by themselves, but put them together and wonderful things happen. It’s simple PAIN science. Contrary to what you may have been told in school, mixing blue and red doesn’t always make purple. Sometimes it makes BOOM. Of course, we’d never keep things as simple as that, but I’ll save the details of the harder difficulties for you all to peep on your own.
The second area…. Man, I shouldn’t be telling you this because it’s a MAJOR government secret, but I’ll share on the condition that you don’t tell ANYbody. Deal? OK, so it’s a top secret alien research facility that’s located between Area 68 and Area 70. Now, I REALLY shouldn’t be tell you this part, but there are actual aliens as well as an alien spacecraft in this place, and you’re going to run into some technology you’ve never seen before. In addition, you’ll see our old buddy Fun With Explosives making an appearance again. I’d tell you more, but I swear, that’s all I can say.
On the Multiplayer side of things, you’ll see FWE, HORSE, Trauma, and another surprise that I won’t yet talk about, but will be revealing soon. What I WILL tell you about the surprise is that it’s something that you, the community, have asked us for, and we are proud to be bringing it to you. You folks are always good to us, so it only makes sense that we take care of you.
You’ll also be seeing the Ded Baron soon as well as another character that everyone will be getting as a freebie. Remember that time you guys asked us to get other Sony characters into the launcher and we gave you BUZZTM? Yeah, I remember that, too. Well, we’ve done it again with someone else... You’re welcome.
Bottom line? Sore Spots is sweet, and I really think you’re all going to be pleased. It’s got really nice variety, and you’re even going to see some familiar faces as NPCs here and there. I’m really interested in hearing your thoughts on it once we release it….in May (did I forget to mention that?). In closing, all I ask is that you keep that alien research information under wraps for reals. I’ll be in deep doo-doo if word gets out that I’m the leak.
