Hey all,

Coker here from the PAIN team with a quick look at our 1.67 update that’s coming in June.  We’ve made some changes and added some goodies for you including new launcher locations and some more trophies, and I think you’ll dig it.  Let’s take a look:

We have two new layouts in this patch, each with its own Leaderboards and trophies.

Block Party

This is the first unlockable layout, with the launcher placed on the opposite side of Downtown.  It’s up above and to the side of the subway entrance, and the new perspective opens up some new possibilities.  Of course, we wouldn’t leave it at just that.  You’ll find a few characters standing around here and there on the tops of buildings (good for snatching, dragging, and chucking), and there’s a huge industrial vent in the construction site that can help you keep your momentum going.

I don’t want to tell you exactly how to unlock Block Party, but I WILL tell you that it’s a intriguing story between a launch character and an old lady, and it’s filled with danger, romance, and probably some Ooch.  Fear not - the Trophy Room will give you more information than I will.

Demolition

This layout puts the launcher right in the middle of Downtown, between the massage parlor and the Lucky Pierre café, and it’s facing the construction site.  We experimented with making the launcher rotate 360 degrees on this one, but we found that it took a lot of the improvisation and challenge out of the level.  Still, there’s plenty to do.  Want to get your character back to the subway side of Downtown?  No problem.  Just launch at one of the exploding tanks in front of you and ride the blast back.

“But Coke, how do I unlock Demolition?”

Well, as you already know, I don’t want to ruin it for you, but I WILL tell you that it’s an epic, dramatic tale of a girl in a bikini, exploding throw crates, and a jerk like yourself in a giant launcher causing PAIN.  Once again, the Trophy Room will reveal more than I.

Trophies

The new Block Party and Demolition layouts wouldn’t be complete without some new trophies, so be ready for some new challenges.  Clearly, I hate to be a spoiler, so let me just say that the new trophies run the gamut from balls to bombing monkeys to snatching boxes to swinging on poles.  Needless to say, it’s as twisted as you’d expect in PAIN, and they’re quite a lot of fun. There are over a dozen new trophies so have fun getting them all in.

Platinum Club

Are you good at PAIN?  Okay, how about GREAT at it?  If so, you’ll enjoy the new Platinum Club challenges.  Once you’ve earned Platinum Trophies in Spank the Monkey, Fun With Explosives, and Mime Toss, you can take on a new level of difficulty.  This is pretty much for the elite among you, so if you’re nice with yours, keep practicing and be ready since each Platinum Club will have its own Leaderboard.  If you’re not so good yet, now’s the time to get your skills in order.

Jukebox

If you’ve ever wanted to listen to your own music on the PS3 while listening to PAIN, this is your lucky patch.  We’re including a Jukebox that lets you play your favorite MP3s while you’re in game.  If you haven’t done so already, get together some of your most PAINful tracks together on your PS3’s hard drive, make a playlist (or several) on the Xross Media Bar, and when you get the patch, you can choose to play your playlists, play a particular album, or a particular artist.  It’s a beautiful thing.  The Idol Minds team says that they have a lot of fun listening to Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” while playing.  Personally, I’m rockin’ Method Man’s “Bring the Pain” pretty much every time I launch.   It just feels right.

Note – At this time, we will only be supporting the MP3 format.  AAC support will be coming at a later date.

Nigel

Although I consider myself one of the most diabolical Haters this side of the Mississippi, Nigel, our new character from across the pond, is one bitter, bitter man.  Clad in black leather and sporting a giant spiked Mohawk, he head bangs and stomps his way into PAIN with a vengeance, and he doesn’t care if you like it or not.  Hardly the perfect English gentleman, Nigel is rude, crude, and ready to mosh into Grannies, cow suits, subway cars, and whatever else you can throw at him….and what you can throw HIM at, I guess.  As always, you can expect a pretty killer PS3 Theme to go along with Nigel, too.

Character Select

Since we’re on the subject of new characters, I should mention a change to character selection, too.  Currently, if you’re playing HORSE, Bowling, or Fun With Explosives, everyone plays as the same character.  With the new update, each player now has the option to choose whoever they want to play.

General Goodies

Some of you have commented about it taking too long to boot PAIN up.  Well, you’ll now be able to skip through the starting logo sequence if you so desire.  Also, in preparation for what will eventually be an overhauled Replay system, we allow you to turn off the User Interface when you’re playing or when you’re watching replays.  It makes everything a lot cleaner, especially for replays.  You’ll also notice some new ads around Downtown.  We’re going to be previewing some of the content for the upcoming Amusement Park expansion for PAIN, so check it out if you want a peek into PAIN’s future.

I hope that gives you all a feel for what’s coming with this new update.  It’s going to be good, and it’s going you keep you in fighting shape for the Amusement Park.  And with online Multiplayer, you need to be ready to BRING it!  As usual, you don’t have to do anything special to get the patch when we release it.  Just fire up the PS3, connect to PSN, and when you start PAIN, the patch will download and install automatically.  Oh, and it’s free.  Did I mention that?  It’s my favorite price.

Time to get back to the launcher.  I’ve got Monkeys to spank.  Peace, y’all.

Very nice. Thanks for the update. My wife loves the game and plays it more than I do. Although she's been asking me about new level she saw mentioned in game since December. Every time she plays it's always "What ever happened to that new level they were supposed to come out with?".

SWEET!! I Can't wait to try this out! The new modes sounds fun! June is only a few weeks away. Hopefully it will be the first week of June. After that, I'm going to be too busy to play very much. We Minnesotans do a lot of outside stuff now that's it's FINALLY nice out. sheesh! I thought Spring would never come!

Posted on 05.01.08 23:04 PM by DJRippey

Yeah great update Coke. VERY VERY INFORMATIVE! So...does this mean that the logo skip is only 1 away and not 2? Ii'm also assuming then that you combined 2 updates in 1 and that's the cause for delay.
I'd say that's fair enough. All I can say is I hope it's early June because GTA4 is really pissing me off. Exspecially after hearing how us PS3 owners are getting screwed out of DLC to a game that should consider Playstation their homes and first priority. R* sold their souls for $50 million dollars. I HATE SELL OUTS!!!

You mentioned the online in the end, but not much before that. has it already been covered, or is it still a bit ahead in the schedule?

@ Pespi.. I mean Coke.. Sorry, but Pepsi rules.. anyway.. GREAT UPDATE! Thanks for giving it up, as you gave a lot of info for us to chew on..
But GUARNTEED, their are going to be a few MORONS and Jack-offs who are gonna bust your balls asking, .."so when is the amusment park coming out"

Posted on 05.02.08 00:41 AM by Hello Hello

thanks coke for giving us the heads up about the update. Now I can't wait for June to come along. Also free is the best price, but paying something for that amuesment park with online play intergrated won't be that big of a deal.

I think that most people don't realize how many people at Idol Minds is probably working on new levels and modes of gameplay and they need to get paid so I don't mind paying for good content.

I also like getting free content too :}

Thanks again to everybody at Idol Minds for supporting us Pain lovers out there and making such a unique game that the players get to put their two cents into.

Posted on 05.02.08 01:18 AM by SolduNuts

@Juggalo: Yeah, this was two updates we combined into one. We were first going to release Nigel and then all the other things and it just wasn’t enough for all of us so we decided to go this route. I think it’s a win for everyone. There really is a lot there and it’s fo FREE! The logo skip is in this update. The next content for PAIN is the Amusement Park. We are working away to get this through our test process. The last go rounds have been very positive. Idol Minds has been making it happen.

@Srart: Send the photo to the PAIN mailbox. We pick it up there. I will take a look at it and see what we can do.

@Sancho: Online Multiplayer will be functional when we release The Amusement Park. There will be more information about that in the future. We have some pretty hefty plans for that support and I would rather we get all our ducks in a row before we talk about it.

@SolduNuts: We like free stuff too. Paid for content is great for us as well. I think the free content on PAIN was good all around. It gave you all some time to get used to the game and it gave us some much needed practice on building more content before we built anything that we would charge for. I think people loose sight of the fact that when we created PAIN we really weren’t THAT sure everyone would get it like we do. Not only do you guys “get it”, but when we look at your scores we are convinced you need to be challenged a little more. So this is a win win. I believe by the time you guys unlock everything in the new update we will be more than ready to talk to you about what’s next… and I like what’s next.

It’s a lot of stuff. You won’t ever experience this 5-6 month lull anymore. Thanks for not really killing us because it takes a while to get it right and get it tight.

~Travis

PS: I am not red because this is Coke’s post not mine. His post will be red on this thread. YES we are fixing that. We are working on quite a few changes to this board.

Posted on 05.02.08 02:34 AM by StalkingSilence

@Coke : Nice post, really like the fact that you are informing us and supply'n a kind of date Smile

@Travis : Board update is 1, isn't it a better idea adding forum functionality. There are so much comments on the blog posts.

How about leaderboards, some scores seem so unreal Wink (or i just suck) is there a update comming to see video's of the scores (in game or use the newly added youtube pluginSmile)

Anyway bring on the -new- PAIN.

Cheers!

Posted on 05.02.08 14:08 PM by KnizzleHizzle

@Juggs- Hows it going mate? Hows your family? Mines doing great, thanks for asking it's appreciated. Ready to dominate the new leader boards?

@Coke/Trvis- Great to see so much content is comming. Pain was becoming a spare time killer for me & I lost that competitive edge once I had all the trophies & I ran away with the STM top spot & Juggs with the Mime toss spot. You look set to return that desire to me, thanks! As d mentioned, are you still looking into the leader board scores & fixing the glitches? I only ask cause modes like FWE & Downtown I don't play after getting the trophies simply cause if my score isn't going to reflect the skill & effort I put in what is the point? Keep up the good work & keep that multiplayer update on time, Jeff once called me out & the desire to beat him at his own game is the one desire that never left me but grows stronger.

@THitter: Remember when I said that sometimes we work on stuff that we can’t mention. Well I already said that we would do a pretty robust replay editor. Your suggestions also about where to put said replays also make sense. This would be one of those times were I said…

GREAT IDEA.

And leave it at that. Mmmmkay. You guys read between the lines pretty well.

@D: Yes board functionality is coming. I want to make some serious alterations before the Amusement Park comes out so that people can have more functionality. This is one of my crusades. It will be solved.

@Mortal: We fixed some of the glitches and I fear we will constantly be in that mode. We will eventually get to them all… and I think you can take Jeff in a Mime Toss fight. But we got something new for you soon. Get ready.

@Stalking: Oh it’s me alright. I am actually enjoying not having that red text. Makes me feel less like the company voice.

Posted on 05.02.08 20:08 PM by travis williams

so the Amusement Park will be free and come with the rest of the patch?

Posted on 05.02.08 21:17 PM by jonas

Great Update guys! I've been checking this blog at least once a week to add my 2 bits and see where things are headed.

I am a very big fan of user-designed integration. Allowing us to vote on the next character or provide ideas for the next poll. Our group ( it has become a Saturday-Night-Calgary-Pain Group) would all love to see a Yeti. At the very least a large, slow, heavy-damage inflicting character. I mean, throwing midgets is fun, but you do need balance.

The Jukebox will be Solid. My question, is there plan for AAC support in the future?

Thanx guys, keep up the fantastic work.

Peace

2 things.

online in this update??
and
where is darts??

Posted on 05.02.08 22:15 PM by Duncan

@Jonas: Huh? No the Amusement Park will not be free. But as new options become available you will be able to patch it.

@Sephex: Thanks for the compliments and yes we plan to support AAC. Everyone here voted for MP3 support first. So that’s the first version of this player. AAC will happen afterwards.

@Duncan: Online will happen in Update 2.0 and Darts will happen after Amusement Park is done.

@jonas
LOL. I hope that was a joke. LOL.

@All the Pain Crew
Thank you for a date...well...month. It's a much better time frame then between now and forever like it's kinda been. Or at least seems to be, a few months feels like forever to me. Thank you for all your hard work.

@Travis
I think your job might get a little easier, at least on the "customer support" end of things.
Out of curiousity, is the reason Coke put up the update because it might in fact be July when 1.7 finally cometh, and you didn't feel like catchin' a huge napalm from the PAIN community again? Time for someone else to feel the burn?
...while you feel the burn from your monkey spanking?
Teeheheheheeee.

Posted on 05.02.08 23:52 PM by MutilatRJuggalo

@Travis
I'm betting that trophy support:
www.ps3fanboy.com/.../
maybe another one of those 'stuff we can't mention' things...

It's to bad you couldn't have been first with either YouTube or trophies. With your internal replay system and internal trophies already in place and working, IdolMinds should get some of the press.
Tim

Posted on 05.02.08 23:55 PM by THitter

@duncan
I'm pretty sure both online and darts are coming with the amusement park update, aka 2.0. I'd have to say I'm 99% sure.

Posted on 05.02.08 23:58 PM by MutilatRJuggalo

BEHOLD!! Bow down! For the Man with the Red Text has arrived!!

My People, I'm glad you liked the update. Juggs, Travis probably DID drop this update in my lap so I'd catch drama from you guys (that jerk!), but we will definitely be dropping the patch in June, probably the early part if bug fixes keep coming along as they have been. WE want to get it to you guys ASAP, and MARKETING wants to get it to you guys ASAP, so now it's just a matter of cleaning up the last few bugs and getting it through final testing. Idol Minds is on the ball, and we're looking like final testing will start in the next week or so.

Looking to the future, I have been playing an early build of the Amusement Park lately, and it's....it's just.... /sniffle.... It's SOOO fresh. It's coming along well, and as Travis mentioned before, we won't have another lull in content like we've had in recent weeks. We have a lot of new characters, Modes, and Environments in store, so the next several months are going to be delicious in the world of PAIN.

Frankly, the WORST thing about working with Idol Minds is that they're so good at what they do. They have tons and tons of crazy ideas, and our toughest job is whittling things down to what we can do within a realistic time frame.

If I can get sappy on you for a sec, it feels really good to be on a project that I believe in and to have it be enjoyed so much by you folks. I appreciate the love, I appreciate and learn from the hate (believe it or not), and I am pretty sure that what we're working on for the future is going to keep you guys happy with PAIN for quite a while to come. Good things.

Out,
Coke

What I find to be funny.....Coke said that with the new update, they would be showing us new ads on the billboards as to what the amusement park had in store for us....still there is no date to when we will see the new amusement park........waiting patiently is becoming harder and harder to do!!!!!!

Posted on 05.03.08 00:20 AM by THEfireman

Can you allow the purchase of the aftermath setup for those like me who are casual gamers. i'm not all that good at pain but i really enjoy playing it.

Posted on 05.03.08 00:22 AM by lostboy85

@Travis -

Hey Travis, you guys should really setup a forum. Just alot easier to follow what is being said and what not. Plus people can post up suggestion etc. etc. and you can keep it all categorized.

Posted on 05.03.08 00:55 AM by PhoenixCE

Since the Platinum club is at the doors, would it be possible to know how many of us made it in?Tong And yes, I worded it this way to show off my immense skills in Pain!Laughing

Posted on 05.03.08 01:04 AM by The_World

Fireman, at this point, why in the world is the lack of a definitive date for the Amusement Park "funny"? Just curious. We've been through the runaround a bajillion times about giving dates too early on the boards here, and bottom line - it is absolutely stupid for us to give you release dates before we are sure we will meet them. Lots of factors play into when we'll get stuff out to you guys, and if we tell you that the Amusement Park launches tomorrow at 7:15AM (it doesn't, by the way), and we actually don't launch it until tomorrow afternoon - heck, even if we launch it at 7:17AM and miss the mark by two minutes - we're the world's biggest jerks and liars and charlatans (MAN, I love that word) and lots of other things that I can't say on the boards here.

We're telling you about the release of the new 1.7 update because we're close enough to know that it will be coming out in June. We will definitely do the same for the Amusement Park when we KNOW when it will be coming out. Otherwise, we wouldn't exactly be lying to you, but we would certainly be telling you something we're HOPING for and crossing our fingers. Not cool in my book. We prefer to keep it real with you guys.

Waiting is hard? Yeah, I think everybody feels you on that. The 1.7 update isn't going to make the wait for the Amusement Park go away, but it's definitely going to make it more entertaining, cat.

Holler,
Coke

any info on when online will be released?

Posted on 05.03.08 02:08 AM by Duncan

i know update 2.0 but when will that be

Posted on 05.03.08 02:09 AM by Duncan

@Duncan - Can you read at all? AT ALL?

@PAIN Crew - Is there a reason why playing PAIN stops the PS3 from downloading while you play? I know this happens when you watch movies or whatever, but if I'm playing Stardust HD for example, my background downloads continue. But if I'm playing PAIN, they pause until I quit out of the game. Is that something that could be changed, or is that something thats too deep to change? Just wondering as I download quite a lot from the store...Like just about everything..HA! It would just be nice to be able to play PAIN while I DL stuff, thats all.

Posted on 05.03.08 02:31 AM by TonyB

@MutilatRJuggalo
if i was joking i would say
"what did the bartender say when a horse walked into his saloon?"

Posted on 05.03.08 02:41 AM by jonas

Duncan, 2.0 will be coming out when the Amusement Park does.

TonyB, unlike some other games, once PAIN connects online, we keep you connected to the network rather than only connecting when you go look at the Leaderboards. There are several reasons for this, including making sure you get the right update as soon as it is available and getting your scores to the Leaderboard servers as soon as possible (although they don't seem to propagate quickly enough sometimes, dang it). That's why background downloads don't work while you play. It's part of the design of PAIN, and almost assuredly won't change. Sorry for the inconvenience, but it really ain't so bad, is it? Personally, I Remote Connect with my PSP and get all my downloads done when I'm not at home. Then everything is ready for me when I get back to the crib. It's beautiful.

Jonas, he'd say "Why the long face?" of course. ...quickly followed by, "And dude, don't you DARE poop in here!"

Peace,
Coke

Posted on 05.03.08 03:17 AM by rikkiepower

....and so it begins....

Posted on 05.03.08 03:25 AM by Jason Coker

@Joke....ummm..I mean Coke(sorry),

The reason I find this funny is because from day one, release day of this game, there has been advertisement of an amusement park theme map. This was probably to keep us around in hopes that sometime in the near future that a second map would be available to the community.>>>>>>>>>FAST FORWARD 7 MONTHS INTO THE FUTURE<<<<<<<<<<< Hey, where's the next map you all have hyping about? When's it finally going to be here? Any dates you could supply us with as to when the new map will be here?

Do you understand why I think that this is kinda funny? I mean, seriously, SEVEN MONTHS to make a new map?

Posted on 05.03.08 03:37 AM by THEfireman

@Rikkiepower: They were discussing trying to turn back time once the update was ready but it seemed like too much work so instead there just releasing it when it's ready which is June Smile

@Coke: I like remote play with my PSP (which I bought just to play with remote play btw) but since I really don't want to get a second job I can't afford to leave my ps3 on all the time, the beast eats power like, well, something that consumes a lot of power Tong

Posted on 05.03.08 03:42 AM by KnizzleHizzle

Fireman, nothing I can tell you will satisfy you here, but here's the deal: When we released PAIN, we had a PLAN to make the Amusement Park level. SEVEN MONTHS to make a new map!?? Answer: Yep.

This is the first time we've done it; we're running into issues we've never dealt with before; developing things the right way takes times; blah-blah-blah-youdon'twanttohearexcuses. We tell you nothing, we're jerks. We tell you pretty much everything we can, we're jerks. We release something soon, “there's not enough content and you should have taken more time, jerks”. We take time and release it when it's ready, “this is taking too long, jerks”.

There was a time in game development when a publisher could "fire and forget", so to speak. Release the game, and it's done. Those days are gone. PAIN is going to continue to grow, and the cold reality is that it is going to take time to develop that new content. I'm pretty sure we're going to get more efficient and therefore faster as we learn from our mistakes and avoid potential pitfalls, but it still won't be as fast as everybody, including us, wants it to be. If I could pull new content out my magic development hat and hook you up, I would, partner. Not gonna happen, though. I’m still upset about spending all that money on a hat that doesn’t work….

I'm guessing that you found my post funny because you could do it faster or because any other developer would have released the Amusement Park five minutes after PAIN hit the storefront or something like that. Maybe. Not likely, but maybe. We'll get you hooked up though, man. That's my word. It just won't be yesterday like you want it.

Knizzle, I hear you on not wanting to leave the machine on. I typically only do it a short while before I head home. Not only am I sort of a hippie when it comes to conserving electricity, but I also have two Labradors at home, and leaving anything on that's within tail-wagging range could be disastrous. I don't think they could actually mess up my PS3, but I don't like to take chances. Those dogs are nuts, which is why I love them so much.

Peace,
Coke

Posted on 05.03.08 04:11 AM by Jason Coker

I think when the amusement park level is released you should have a billboard somewhere in it promoting whatever environment is next up. This time, instead of 'Coming Soon' you can have a sarcastic comeback like 'Coming Whever The Hell It's Done' or 'Coming Never' or something similar. Inside jokes like that never get old.

@Coke: I hear ya, I drive a VW Lupo, which Im sure you have no idea what is, but suffice to say that it runs 100km on 3 litres of diesel Smile I'm very environmentally aware even though I don't believe in some recycling like paper, since it's really more wasteful of energy and trees used for paper are grown for that specific purpose anyway. I also frantically try to make my wife turn of the damn lights in a room when she's not in there anymore. In fact, I think I\m quite annoying when it comes to that Tong

You will never, well hopefully never, have any issues with us. You tell us ONCE, we don't have to ask again.. and again.. and hey, again again again.. but as I said many times before, and again in here, as it's already been proven......

Their are some deaf, dumb and evidently blind EFFING JERKOFFS in here...lol

Its about god damn time already, This will get me back into PAIN in a big way, since I am almost done completely with GTA:IV only 5% left before I hit 100%.

But PAIN was fun and now I can listen to my favorite music sweet, anyword on when the AAC support will be up like around September or something.

Anyway great news thanks a lot for a great game just made greater.

I'm having problems playing FWE single player, the load screen just hangs. Any solutions?

@Coke - Nah, not a big deal at all, I was just wondering if it was for a reason, or just how it came out. I'll just continue to play Stardust when I'm DL'ing. I have plenty of time to play PAIN later. Heck, I have stacks of games that still have the shrink Wrap on them!

Posted on 05.03.08 07:54 AM by TonyB

It's been said I'm not sure how many times that online multiplayer was being created along with the park's creation.

So it's not just a new map. It's a whole new online mode to good with all the offline modes.

Come on now... Some developers who don't include online multiplayer in their game say it won't be added since the original code wasn't created for it.

So it's not just a new map. It's completely new code that needs to be writed and tested then tweeked and tested. I mean.. if it releases with an online mode that's broke, everyone will be in an up roar.

So Coke.. Travis.. I'm not sure if I'm describing the real deal for you guys.. but I'm sure I'm somewhere in the ball park..

I feel you either way... (No Homo)

Thanks for the work... You got my complete support.

BTW.. Is the video creator in anyway connected to the YouTupe API information going around.

Shoo.. I forgot to add earlier that along with the park and online stuff.. You're also working on cool stuff like the editor and jukebox and who knows what else Wink

Away from PAIN... New Orleans native like myself was wondering you guys think about Weezy... That's all I'll be listening to once the jubebox is released.

Thanks again...

Wow that was some bad typing there Laughing

Sorry.. Yall get the point..

Posted on 05.03.08 08:01 AM by Theossie

Will PAIN ever work with remote play? You should add it in 1.8 or something. Don't be greedy and release a PAIN PSP game like thatgamecompany did with flOw.

Posted on 05.03.08 08:43 AM by XxBigP123xX

@James007
95% already? Wow.
I guess that just proves my point even further that there is absolutley nothing else to do in that game but missions. What happened to those guys?

@Travis
If you worked with R* and have friends in the company, can you please ask them what the hell happened to their game quality. Please?
It's supposed to be a sandbox, do whatever you want game. As creators you are always supposed to look for new ideas, not take them all away.
Thank you for being part of a game that can only move forward, because you care not only about your own crazy ideas, but ours too.
I can honestly say at this point that PAIN even with only downtown alone, is far more complete then GTA4. Without a doubt in my mind!!! There's way more to do and way more to discover in your game!!

@To all who hate PAIN (exspecially those who bought GTA4)
Don't ever complain that PAIN costs too much for to little. They never stole your money, GTA4 DID!!!

Posted on 05.03.08 09:37 AM by MutilatRJuggalo

@Mortal
Glad to hear things on your end are going good..mate.
Things are going...well they're a little crazy. Trying to find a new place to live due to an absolutley psychotic neighbor. (Can't raise my kid around a guy crazy enough to punch himself in the face, plus all his recent burglary and home invasion charges)
So....
yeah..interesting.
But,
The next PAIN update is on the horizon,
the weather's getting warmer,
shows for me to be on our popping up double time,
and
.....
IT'S GRILLING SEASON!!
Brats galore!!!

Posted on 05.03.08 09:43 AM by MutilatRJuggalo

@Juggs - Dang!!....A Beer Brat sure sounds good right now... JERK! Now I gotta go to the grocery store...good thing it's open 24 hours! I bought GTA4 over a week ago, still haven't opened it tho...Guess I'll try it soon.

Posted on 05.03.08 12:18 PM by TonyB

@Tony
Right on!!!! Use MGD to cook um in. If you can buy Johnsonville, they are clearly the best.

Posted on 05.04.08 03:49 AM by MutilatRJuggalo

@Juggs - No brainer on the Johnsonville, but I go with PBR for the juice...It was my Grannies fav!

Posted on 05.04.08 08:25 AM by TonyB

@coke: i feel for you, man. the horrible truth is that consumers are almost impossible to satisfy. but even though we are nagging you for more updates, characters, ect., it means we love your game so much that we want more from you amazing workers. so, in times of, well, crap, remember how much we love your game. i think you guys have created something totally new and imaginative. so, as much as i hate to say it, im gonna wait patiently for whatever your next freaking amazing idea(s?) are/is.

peace.

SKEE-BALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted on 05.05.08 16:56 PM by TonyB

@TonyB

Skee-Ball sounds full of win.

@PAIN Team

Keep up the great work!

Posted on 05.05.08 20:55 PM by Sam

@Tony
I'm waaaaay down on some skee-ball. EXSPECIALLY ONLINE!!! THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!

Posted on 05.05.08 23:05 PM by MutilatRJuggalo

I think it would be sweet to have some type of carnival game mode for PAIN.
Include games like,
Frog Toss
(No slingshot, instead a catapult. Be warned of falling stuffed animals, bagged goldfish, opponent frogs and more.)
Skee-Ball
Clown face balloon pop / Racing (community vote) character.
(No water here. Objects must be tossed into a moving hole/bullseye of some kind. The more objects in, the more the balloon inflates, or character advances.)

...........
I have other ideas, but if anyone else does, feel free to add to the list.

Posted on 05.05.08 23:12 PM by MutilatRJuggalo

new to pain here. great game. one problem though. i downloaded the nigel character from the psn store, but he's not on my character select screen. i checked under every game type possible and he's not there. any idea what happened?

Posted on 05.06.08 01:18 AM by sean

Um...Nigel isn't on the PSN yet

Posted on 05.06.08 02:53 AM by TonyB

@ tonyb... yeah actually he is. if you go to the add on screen keep clicking on stuff until the pain pic appears on the left. click on the pic and it will take you to the add ons and some trailers. nigel is there for download. you have to click on the pic on the left though, not just go through add on content as usual.

Posted on 05.06.08 03:22 AM by sean

just go to the add ons screen and then store top, back and forth until you see the pain pic on the left. i said i was new not crazy.

Posted on 05.06.08 03:30 AM by sean

Chris – Not sure what to tell you except to try uninstalling an reinstalling. That’s a weird issue.

Theossie – I’ve never been to New Orleans, but it’s one of my “must visit” destinations. Have you ever hear that Wu-Orleans jazz/Wu mashup? Off. The. Chain.

BigP123 – Unfortunately, PAIN won’t work with Remote Play, but that would be sweet.

Juggs and TonyB – Holler when the brats are ready. I’ll be over shortly.

Mikey – Thanks for the support, cat. I don’t really think anybody comes here just to spew hate. It seems to me that people dig the game and want more. Nothing wrong with that. If we made something cool enough for people to be passionate about it and scream and shout for more, I think we’ve done a pretty good job.

Sean – Where are you, sir? Nigel’s definitely not up on the North American store.

Peace,
Coke

I confirm that Nigel is on the US store but he don't have add-on write under his pic like the other character...but you can buy it...?????

Posted on 05.06.08 15:00 PM by Kamineko

Nigel is in the store but like sean said you can only get to him by following his instructions. I thought though that coke said he would be part of the new FREE update coming in june. anybody got conformation regarding this? coke...anyone?

Posted on 05.06.08 15:26 PM by DiagnosticFaith

Yea, Nigel is in the store via PAIN's character addon section:

No details for him or anything. I didn't try purchasing him either, but apparently Sean did.

Posted on 05.06.08 15:39 PM by ToN

I bought Nigel also but from under the Staff recommendations section Pain bitmap of the US PSN Store. Anyhow Nigel doesn't show up for me in the actual Pain game though, he probably isn't playable until the 1.7 patch

Posted on 05.06.08 16:06 PM by bwhitlat

@All with Nigel
Does he have a theme up yet?

@Coke
Just finished grilling a party pack (12) the good way. They are soaking in a Beer bath with butter and onions (at exactly 180 degrees) as I type this. Where you at Coke. Bring over some of them beat cd's and let's party.

i just downloaded nigel from the store by following seans directions he's in there

Posted on 05.07.08 00:25 AM by domenic

maybe everybody SHOULDN'T buy nigel if he's gonna be free with the 1.7 patch. save your buck o seven, he's UNplayable anyway.

Posted on 05.07.08 00:33 AM by sean

@sean, i don't think he's going to, or was planned to be free.

I loved this update!!

Nice work fellas.

But of course, there is one more question.
Will there still be a undate video or did you decide not to do one because of this board update?

Posted on 05.07.08 02:28 AM by Mudrucker

Nigel is no longer in the store. Man they work fast Smile

Posted on 05.07.08 03:32 AM by ToN

This has been a test of the Emergency Jedi Mind Trick System. Had Nigel actually been available, don't you think your man would've let you know?

There is no Nigel yet. Nigel's not until the 1.7 Patch.

May the PAIN be with you,

So, for those of us who bought this faux-Nigel, will we just have to re-download him from the Download List when the 1.7 patch is released, or will we have to shell out another $0.99?

Posted on 05.07.08 04:27 AM by NuclearVlad

Cus 99 cents is almost a full dollar!!! OH NO!

Posted on 05.07.08 04:39 AM by Mudrucker

Vlad, you shouldn't have been charged at all, but you definitely shouldn't be charged twice for content that's not even supposed to be up yet. If so, please raise a ruckus with my blessing.

That Jedi Mind Trick is pretty sweet. I gotta try again:

Posted on 05.07.08 04:56 AM by TonyB

The update sounds pretty sweet. I just picked up the game myself a few days ago.

Only thing is, I also have the issue of single player FWE not loading and have seen a few other people mentioning it on the net.

Do I have to put on my sad panda face to find out what's going on? Would it help to tell you I have a 60G PS3 and not a newer 40/80G?

Posted on 05.07.08 05:00 AM by f__k

@Coke
My address should be on file, I am a developer you know, XXXXLT STYLE. Send me a pair of tickets (for me and my girl, I don't take up 2 seats, lol) and I'll be out their lickidy split with an insulated suitcase full of a VARIETY of bratwurst. Posted on 05.07.08 17:53 PM by no1rebal

@f__k
They know about the "FWE" not working after the 1.5 patch, but haven't said word one about it. Most of us that are suffering from it are hoping that the 1.7 patch will fix the problem. (mostly by accident, since the Devs at pain won't speak on the matter).

Posted on 05.07.08 17:58 PM by Thistlebop

people must think im weird because i dont post in ages and when i do i send about five at a time. anyway i got some ideas:

games
pain basketball
snooker/pool (this is my fave because you can fire yourself at the giant balls so basically your player does the same job as the white ball. get it?)

characters
devil
angel
guy in wheelchair
a dog

themes
mall
outside a hotel ( with a swimming pool, people sunbathing and a beach in the background which you can reach)

damn its hard to explain what you mean in a email

anywho peace out

Posted on 05.07.08 18:18 PM by no1rebal

Thistlebop, I've already commented on the FWE issue - I don't know what the problem is. Idol Minds is looking into it. Excellent use of sarcastic pseudo-psychological parenthetic asides, though.

Peace,
Coke

@Anyone-What are you guys talking about FWE not loading single player? Ever since I downloaded it, it works fine. I have the 80G motorstorm PS3 what do you guys got that are having the problem? just wondering can't wait for the new patch! Rock on PAIN crew and players.

About the FWE issue...
I have the 60GB. I've read boards where others have deleted and reinstalled and still had the load screen hang. Hope the info helps

Posted on 05.08.08 12:10 PM by CHRIS

Folks, the FWE issue shouldn't have anything to do with the model of PS3 you have. Please try downloading and installing FWE again as soon as possible and see if that makes a difference. Let us know what's up. Idol Minds is on the case.

Peace,
Coke

Posted on 05.08.08 12:26 PM by Jason Coker

Me = 60 GB and no problems. You guys, delete PAIN, re download it, update it, THEN you download FWE. U must do it that way. Same problems with add-ons in motorstorm. U have to update before u can download the applicable add ons.

Posted on 05.08.08 12:47 PM by STALLONE

@Coke

Sorry if you detected sarcasm. If thats all you detected then you got off easy, since I've posted about this problem when I originally bought this game, and recieved no official response here. (Two users posted ideas on how to fix it, but I had already tried those). Nor did I ever recieve any Emails from this site (I sent in three emails, but never even recieved a form letter, let alone any kind of acknowledgement that my email was recieved).

So yeah, when I get ignored after following whatever few steps are open to me, it can make a person pissy.

Btw, I love "Pain", but your customer service sucks, and so does you're attitude towards your customers.

I bought the product, (full game/add-on/characters) and it didn't work properly, and so I have a right to complain about it. My first emails and posts were NOT complaints, but when they went ignored I felt slighted. Not too hard to understand.

Peace

Thistlebop

Posted on 05.08.08 14:19 PM by Thistlebop

@Thistlebop: Did you try what STALLONE just wrote?

Posted on 05.08.08 17:19 PM by KnizzleHizzle

@STALLONE : I downloaded (and automaticly installed) FWE before the PAIN download was complete, after the PAIN install i booted the game and it updated. After the restart FWE worked like a charm Foot

Posted on 05.09.08 02:11 AM by StalkingSilence

Thistlebop – Have you tried downloading and installing again since yesterday? You may very well be good to go now. You are not alone in your e-mail troubles. NOBODY is getting responses to e-mail at the moment, and that is something we’re working on. We’re glad you like the game, we’re sorry you’re having trouble, we’re working to fix problems, and I never said that you complained (and wouldn’t gripe if you did). Frankly, if the game is broken, you have a RIGHT to complain and should do so by all means. Also, if we didn’t want to hear what people have to say about the game – both good and bad, we wouldn’t have this forum for you. As a matter of fact, if anybody from SCEA or Idol Minds ever tells you that you don’t have the right to speak your piece, I doubt they’ll be working where they are much longer. That’s not how we get down.

My “sarcasm” comment was with regard to your reverse psychology-style aside at the end of your post: ***(mostly by accident, since the Devs at pain won't speak on the matter)***. It’s very clear that this is the type of statement that is meant to prod someone into responding by telling them that they won’t respond. We’ve all seen this a bajillion times, no? Heck, my Momz was a master at that technique. And guess what….it worked! I responded, I told you we were working on it, I think everything is fixed now, and I even gave you props for using the ill technique effectively. If that somehow makes me the bad guy with the sucky attitude toward the people who dig PAIN, so be it.

Hate on me all you like if you want me to be the jerk here, but remember this, sir – nobody here is going to stop you from speaking your mind. Again, please trying downloading and installing FWE again, and let us know if you’re good to go. I think you’ll enjoy the single player experience, but good luck on the Leaderboards. The people who play PAIN are ridiculously nice with the skills.

Holler (and I mean that),
Coke

@Anyone-Does anyone elses game do this? when you start the volume is low but then when you go to the audio and turn it down then back up it returns to normal volume? it's been with the game ever since I got it months ago. It doesn't hurt the game experience, it's just kinda annoying to have to fool with the audio everytime I play. Although it says it saves the changes it does not. thanks and later

@all Hi there! A couplöe of days ago I finally got Platinum in all those modes. Whew, bet there was a little too much luck involved than it should be in a game.
But what I wanted to ask you guys is, where can I find any hints, strategies or tips for playing this game? I mean, this here would be a great place for it, wouldn't it?

Posted on 05.09.08 09:49 AM by K

@OneButton - Heh, just saw that you as well asked about tips. Well, as I said, from my experience all I can suggest is trying, trying, trying and having luck. Of course along the way you'll earn some experience and learn ways to improve your performance - but it seems to be that those things that made the biggest difference were beyond my influence. Well, it's kind of a chaos-generator after all. But hey it's cool. ^_^

Posted on 05.09.08 10:10 AM by K

@Jason

Thanks for your response. Sounds mostly like it was miscommunication between the two of us. I apoligize for my part in it. As I said earlier I do love the game and think it's a quality product that is well worth the money spent on it.

As for FWE, it most certainly does work now. What happened was that when people were speaking on the accidental "Nigel" inclusion in the PSN's Picks selection, I decided to go peek at him. When I looked there, I noticed that the add-on was also included there, and figured I might as well try to download it from that location instead of downloading it from the designated "add-on" section, and Voila !!! It worked. Instead of downloading a 100k "placeholder" file, it downloaded the full 1782k file. Now everything is working great. I bought another character to celebrate it, and look forward to buying more content when it becomes available.

Thank you for your lengthy and honest response. Even if we might not see eye to eye on everything, I do appreciate the time you took to explain what you originally meant. Also, I don't hate you, nor plan on hating anyone on the Pain staff. I only directed my response at you, because you took the time to respond to a post that I made to another member of the pain community.

Sincerely,
Thistlebop

Posted on 05.09.08 11:28 AM by Thistlebop

Thistlebop - Glad to hear that you're in full effect. I sincerely apologize to you if my post came off wrong. It's all love up in here, and if you ever catch me trying to shut people out on this site, you have my blessing to slap me in the teeth.

K - If you're looking for tips on gameplay, you've come to the right place. You're posting where the best PAIN players congregate, and this is a good group of folks (Dare I say they're even better at the game than the team at Idol Minds? I think Jeff Litchford might have something to say about that. CHALLAWNGE!!). If you ask the cats here for tips, I'm sure you'll get some good advice.

Peace,
Coke

The only tip I ever got from here was "don't be talking about glitches!" And I wasn't even directly talking about them ... I was just investigating on what scores are legalish and what scores are not ...

Of course, asking for other tips, I got nothing as well ... So yes, you've come to the right place. Here, people always like to help!

Posted on 05.10.08 01:56 AM by The_World

Hmm.. funny, I think that by reading everything ever written here I got a few pointers, like Mutilator once wrote that he usually goes full power on mimetoss, that helped me a lot, and there's been numerous STM tips though I haven't tried them as I suck at STM and would rather try to aim for perfect on mimetoss first.

But the one advice that keeps coming back:

PRACTICE!!!!

Posted on 05.10.08 08:10 AM by KnizzleHizzle

TIP-FWE 1st start up high hitting or grabbing explosive creates or gas tanks then when landing try to land on a create bouncing you around the level, then it's all ooch and super ooch from there. 2nd try grabbing big items up top (Bowling ball, pins, doughnut etc.) and pulling them down with you. That will usually bust alot of creates and give bonus time and creates. Hope the info helps, any others tips from the platinum club members would also be helpful I'm sure and don't be afraid to share tips it just ups the ante for a better game. laters

well after taking a break from the boards awaiting something to make the game new again.......i see nothing has changed, i have tried my hardest to stay off the PAIN HATE SQUAD but come on guys this game has existed for over half a year now and you keep limping us along with minor crap updates. it is only so long before people realize oh another new character to do the same thing i have been doing for 3 months now with....YAYYY!!!!(sarcasticly)...quit dinking around with zombies and cheerleaders and launcher positions and get people working on a new level to trash. working with computers i realize programming is the biggest job there is so get more people working on it instead of new characters to use doing the same old stuff with. me and my freinds would play this game for hours on end up until scurv dogg and hung lo came out then the controllers got put down because you can only do the same stuff over and over so much before you feel like a chimp for buying the game. you did good with this game but it hanging in limbo like this waiting for a new level is really making you guys look worse than if you posted a date for it and missed it .

Tip #2 - Don't suck.

STM - Is the easiest video game in the history of video games.

Mime Toss - Is hard. Practice is your only hope.

FWE - Is pretty much luck once you get to a certain point. Hit the stacked pipes up on the building at about 1 o'clock so they fall on to the big boomer below and to the left. Once you hit the pipes, reset and shoot yerself at the box on top of the hotel. As soon as you hit that, reset and launch at the box on or below the scaffold to the left of the bowling ball. If you are fast enough, only 2 or 3 of the boxes won't count on your current launch. Then bounce around and hope lots of stuff hits lots of stuff. Luck and good ooching is all you can do.

i think the amusement park is like killzone or little big planet ,they promised to quickly and they released to soon

Posted on 05.10.08 23:14 PM by Marvin

@darksoul1978: Before you start ranting you should READ WHAT HAS BEEN POSTED. There's different people working on levels and characters. Do like Coke says you should if it bores you: Play something different and come back when the next level is ready. It's not just a new level, it's multiplayer and some new game modes as well. I happen to trust the PAIN team when they say that in the future there won't be this far between levels. And plus, half a year really isn't that long.

I swear, this is like reading on EVERY SINGLE FORUM in existence for games prior to releases, a lot of people crying from impatience, shouting to the rooftops about how they've been patient but are now just fed up. They're in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation here, I would rather have them say "When it's ready" than breaking a date. Just remember: They're not intentionally delaying Amusement Park, they just aren't done testing it. That simple.

I'm just happy that I get new launch positions for free, yay Smile

That being said, I can hardly wait for online multiplayer Smile

@TonyB: Solid advice Smile I need to practice the "Don't suck" part a little though Tong It's guys like you with the mad skills that make the rest of us feel like we shouldn't even be allowed to play Tong

@ all - Okay, then, since Travis recommended all of you guys, here are my two most urgent questions:

1. Is it really possible to hit all monkeys in STM on painful difficulty without ooching? I'm trying to get that trophy for 20 clean runs, but ran out of ideas how to hit without ooching. For example, the second pair of monkeys ... how can you hit both without ooching? I managed to do so once by pure luck when I was using Scurv Dogg and his hat or sabre hit the second one. But is there any other way to achieve it? Same goes for some of the other monkeys, really can't list all of them now.

2. What about the trophy for hitting 5 explosive crates in high positions in one shot? Can anyone tell me just exactly HOW HIGH those crates must be located? Yes, there's a height indicated, but I can't really estimate what it would be in the game. And btw, I already managed to hit 5 crates about the height of those on top of the hotel in one shot - but apparently it's not enough. Can anyone help me? Maybe in my version (German) the indicated height in the trophy menu was messed up in the translation? So can anyone with the trophy tell me those crates he hit? Would be great.

@ Travis - There's one thing I was afraid to suggest before, but now, since I had so much trouble with STM on painful difficulty, I've grown impertinent enough to ask, heh.
So: wouldn't it be neat towards the gamers if we had a way to pause the game during a shot, but instead of having the current pause screen, still be able to see the stage and even turn the camera? That way, it would be possible to aim for an object, e.g. an explosive crate, and before the character impacts, turn the camera and aim for the next target.
In case people now say it would be cheap, I don't think so, beacuse it would still be challenging to adjust and plan in advance. This way the player would just have more control - and people wouldn't rant about the slow camera all the time.
Oh and in case some might point out that it would slow down the gameplay, I just have to remmeber the many times I just sat there, thinking of where to land next while paused or endlessly flying around with the camera in Replay, looking for the best locations. I always thought of PAIN as a more strategic game than an action game. Well, could be just me, but I guess those people who achieved those insane highscores couldn't do so just by chance.
These are just suggestions and I am interested in what you guys think about it.

Thanks and sorry for this long post.

i still can't get a score above 1,900,000 please give me some tips on how to unlock “1,500,000 pain” or “3,000,000 points” i also can't unlock any stm or mime toss trophies

Posted on 05.11.08 14:07 PM by no1rebal

@K STM shot #2, grab the curb, most can be hit reliably without oouchin, but not all, play long enough and you get repeates, then you can get chimply (and yes it is hard, unless your Mortal_Sinner)
USE JARVIS, he seems to be the best overall, good oouch and full size.
Use different L1 and L2 styles to change flight dynamics and PRACTICE and PLAN. Nothing will take the place of those last two, grabs, upside down spin,, Sitting, grab ankles, ball, and spread eagle. I think thats all I use. Look at the previous post, TonyB or Mortal gave me a hint or two.

FWE, you must land on the explosives, try tanks.

Posted on 05.11.08 15:51 PM by srart

@ no1rebal, get run over, again, and agian ...
The pain points are listed on the results screen, (pause, results)

Mime toss, pratice and memorize. I can get platinum with anyone, even the dwarfs.

Posted on 05.11.08 15:53 PM by srart

@K STM I found better control over where Jarvis goes using the splits and hitting with one leg. The resulting spin tends to keep him moving forward in a straight line and can be adjusted by hitting his foot or knee. The helecopter is better for hight and distance if you hit his head. Build up lots of time first so that you have more time to set up your shots without stressing out!
I keep seeing postings for hints on FWE, but I already did the one player I still need hints for the 60 boxes on MULTIPLAYER. It is my last trophy and is taking me forever. Jarvis keeps passing out just as I am getting there. What two initial shots did you guys use? first shot: I use the box in front of the doctor sign to knock me up to the rooftop above and go from there. Second shot: I use the box lodged in the billboard just to the right bouncing to the tank in the middle roof.

Posted on 05.11.08 16:25 PM by OneButton

@K- FWE Go for the propane tanks to get your trophy & use Hung Lo or Scurv they seem to be able to keep more motion going using ooch. For STM, don't worry about hitting all without ooch there are plenty of simple ones to get like the one sitting in the cafe & one next to the dumpster to his right. Just hit the propane tank. When you get past the tripple monkey stage you just get random repeats of monkey positions giving you the chance to hit 20 clean runs. Concentrate on keeping your timer well stocked & you'll get Chimply ridiculous. Try left/right grab for the second set of monkeys & if you only clip the one monkey you get enough spin to kick the other up the ass.
@Travis/Coke- Any chance of having a more detailed score record in the other modes like aftermath? For example, I hit over 20 clean runs whilst spanking 10,000 monkeys but don't know exactly how many (800+ I think).
@no1rebal- Use the subway! You need to hit as much as possible before getting run over as many times as possible. Go through the air vent & hit a letter from the hotel sign to stop you overshooting the roads. When you get run over grab the car & keep ooching before letting go.
@srart- Thanks for the recognition, it's appreciated.
@Juggs/TonyB/Haskell- How you doing gents?

Posted on 05.11.08 17:26 PM by mortal_sinner

@ no1rebal: I was stuck at the 1.9 Million mark for quite sometime. When I finally broke it and got a 2.5 Mil ... I wasn't even using my own PS3. But last week, I got a 3.3 Mil.

I just start high up, (on top the Hotel, or the stacks of barrels n such) and work my way down hitting as many items as I can. Personally a fan of pylons, because I can hit 3 or 4 at a run... and grabbing onto the bumper of vehicles and getting dragged around the map. And lastly, when I've been on the ground for a while and caused a lot of shite, I like to save my Super Ooch for heading down into the subway and hit a bunch of boxes as a finale.

Anyone else wanna share their favourite methods?

Posted on 05.11.08 19:36 PM by Sephex

@sinner - All is well here...I guess it's finally time for telling our tricks huh? I knew it would come eventually.

STM - While it's true that you can't ooch after hitting a monkey to get a clean run, you can still use the drift to get in the proper position to make the hit. Some of the shots are much easier if you hit them at an angle that you can't launch at. For example, The monkey on the bowling pin and the one in front of the ball: aim the launcher to the left a little ways, as you fly through the air, angle back to the right so you are lined up in a straight line with both monkeys, the superman pose will work good to just hit the top of the mokey on the pin, then belly slide to the one in front of the ball. if you over shoot it's ok, because you will hit the ball and it will take out the monkey.
Just use all the tools you have and all but 1 of the 2 monkey set-ups are do-able for clean runs.

Posted on 05.11.08 19:46 PM by TonyB

@k
being able to look around on pause would take the fun out of the game i always thought it was about making quik desisions (eg: i just hit a crate and im now in the air do ouch to the road and try to grab a car or ouch to the subway or do i try to hit the cyclest of his bike into the gas tank)havng only seconds to react to the envioment is where the fun is

Posted on 05.11.08 23:20 PM by toast_burner

@srart - So you mean it's all about landing ON TOP of the crates? Really? But how high do they have to be located to count? Oh, btw, do I have to play on Painful or does any difficulty count?

Can anyone tell me what he thinks would be the lowest crate positions that count in for that trophy?

@all - thanks for sharing your experience, gotta try out your tricks ASAP.

i havent posted in awhile so hmmm........ I LOVE PAIN!!!

So will the 1.7 patch be up before the 12th since that when MGS4 bundle with the PAIN voucher is released?

That would suck balls if people buying the MGS4 bundle get the amusement park for free as well. I think I would snap.

Things are aiight. My son's a lunatic so that's entertaining, lol.
What are gas prices like out by you?
$4.20 per gallon here.

Posted on 05.13.08 04:13 AM by MutilatRJuggalo

@K, no you don't have to hit the top, but you do have to hit them yourself, not with hats, swords, or any of the enviroment stuff. 2 stories up, so roof tops and the hotel.

Posted on 05.13.08 11:13 AM by srart

@Juggs - I wouldn't worry about anyone getting the new map for free. I think these guys are ready to be paid!!! My guess is 8 bucks, and a bundle deal for newbies for 17 so they save a buck. Thats all guess work, but after watching how the PSN does bizznez, I'd call it an educated guess.

Posted on 05.14.08 04:34 AM by Sephex

@Pain Crew
Just wondering with the amusement park is it the slingshot style launcher or a new launcher? Also what's up with the purchasable launchers you brought up a while back.

Posted on 05.14.08 08:41 AM by MutilatRJuggalo

@Travis - Ooo ooo... I just had an idea for a mode....or part of one anyway. The launcher has a power limit! Let's say ou start with 100 power points and a full launch takes 25 points. You can earn more launcher power points by hitting certain objects on the map. So now you have to worry about how far you can shoot, as well as what you can hit. Shoot too far too many times and then you can't get things in the distance until you power up again. That would bring some crazy stratagy into the game I think.

Posted on 05.14.08 09:49 AM by TonyB

@every1:
i am gonna share my secrets about paindemonium, in whichever mode ( aftermath or normal ) i try to hit those things on the cranes after exploding off a propane tank. either that or i try to hit the bowing ball then hit the propane tank next to the donut shop, try to hit all the crap in lucky pierre, ooch myself onto the road, get run over by cars with like a 16 X multiplier and get around 2.5 mil.

hope the info has helped!!!

Mikey

Posted on 05.14.08 09:52 AM by Mikey

@TonyB love your idea about powering up the launcher. I think we should expand the level maybe aleast another block so after you power up you can reach further objectives. That would add to every mode more fun with STM,FWE,P etc. Hell that would sure have spiced up the 1 level we've all been playing since christmas. Just a thought well add-on really. later love PAIN can't wait for the new patch, level. Bring on the PAIN.

Hi,

When will be able to view the highscores from Aftermath on the website as you said that feature would be available soon!

I'm still baffled at how 185 million is the top score when mine is 3.8 million.

@Nick
3.8 mil is a great score. 185 is a glitch.

Just for the record, I've personally eaten 46 brats in 48 hours. I've been grilling a family pack of Johnsonville brats every 24 hours for the last 2 weeks. Tonights were topped with carmelized onions, garlic cloves, beer, and cheese, oh yeah, and bacon!!!!!

@Juggalo- Never tried them, am I missing out? As far as I konw it's a type of sausage?
@TonyB- Nice idea, would certainly add to the game play & life of the level.

Posted on 05.16.08 07:41 AM by mortal_sinner

@MutilatRJuggalo

Thanks for compliment.

Has it been confirmed as a bug? Why can't they remove those scores from the leaderboard AND how come there are so many people with 50 million+ then?

I have been trying in vain to get scores like that but just can't get higher than 3.8 million.

Would love to be able to see the leaderboard on this site!

Posted on 05.16.08 08:16 AM by Nick

@no1rebal i did read the comments and realize they have this guy here and that guy over there, and yes six months in the video game world is a long time when your average life span between sequal's is only a year or two, (except something massive like final fantasy) what i was getting at was perhaps an extra set of hands might speed things up a little same as with any job....or perhaps do what MANY software companies do and release a beta run to consumers where they can get even more input about the bugs i think 2 or 3 million testers could provide quality input, i'm not trying to say the pain crew is doing a terrible job by any means so far the game has been alot of fun it's just gotten very repetative. as for stopping and playing something else well sony dont have the wide selection of games on the ps3 that are rather appealing to me yet i'm rather fussy about what i am going to shell out 50 or 60 bucks for and this wide selection of first person shooters on ps3 aint it. i am hoping for an estimate date. instead of travis coming out like Don Rumsfeld announcing his vauge terror alerts, come out and say "No guarantees people but it's looking like July 16th for the park" if something happens before that that delays it say "well we have to postpone it due to this and that" just a little something to keep us going i am looking forward to the more trophys however and hopefully they fixed my vanishing STM trophy i still win the trophy first monkey i hit every time and it still goes away every time i am done playing. cant wait to see how pain gets even better guys

Posted on 05.16.08 20:02 PM by darksoul1978

Well I am a developer and would kill to be that extra set of hands working on PAIN! A lot more fun than insurance software.
Is there anything in the works to either display a speed and hight meter or to give them as statistics at the end of a run. These both seem to already be tracked variables because of the tropheys.

hey guys what about a POWER PLANT level for Pain it sounds good it would be fun and everything just an idea what do yous think

Posted on 05.17.08 12:04 PM by brad_snake412

What up, folks? Just wanted to give you a quick update on the patch. As you all probably know, there has been plenty of screaming around here about giving you release dates and why it's hard to give release dates and what not. Well, I thought you guys were gonna let me have it when I said "June", and I thank you for not giving me the ol' verbal beat down.
Bottom line, though - there was a chance that we were going to have the patch ready in May, but I was convinced that the scary monkey wrench who lives in my closet would jump into the mix if I had told you that we would release this month. Well, guess what....The monkey wrench came up yesterday. We're still good to go for June, and I'm SOOO glad I didn't BS you with an unrealistic date.
Some of you have been asking about videos, and we are hoping to put an Amusement Park video together pretty soon. Unfortunately, the guys at Idol minds whose priority was the Amusement Park are now back on the patch to fix yesterday's ugliness. This doesn't affect the progress of the Amusement Park. It just slows us down a bit on making the video.
Thanks to all of you who have given game play advice lately. It's pretty interesting to read about some of the different techniques. I have to wonder how willing you will be to share your secrets once we drop online multiplayer with the Amusement Park. Will you still share your secrets with so many potential adversaries? Hmmmm......
Again - we're still good with the patch, and it's gonna be a beautiful thing. Thanks for checking in.

Posted on 05.17.08 19:26 PM by Jason Coker

Wow, I get to be the first even though I haven't checked in a whileTong

That's good news, although May would have been just brilliantSmile

Anyways, can't wait for the Park and online!

Posted on 05.17.08 20:01 PM by The_World

@Nick: My top score is 7,8 million. No glitches, just a lot of hard (ooch) work and a really long run. Have no clue how to go 50+ mio without glitch, although I find out that it is possible to be ooching forever up and down the second alley but the bonus is small and to make 100 mio this way seems to require way more patience than I have at my disposal; nonetheless, it's viable!

Posted on 05.17.08 20:05 PM by The_World

@Coker- So how big was this monkeys wrench? Oh & do you really think us 'mutants' are giving our best kept secrets away or just the ones that we discovered on our way to better things & higher status on the leader boards? There are just some things you keep hush about, you need some weapons in your arsenal for multiplayer.
@Juggs- Online beckons my friend, I can't help but think how similar our runs might be in mime toss & how stupidly quick time one of us could achieve if there are different/quicker shots between them. Time will tell. Until then I'm going to hit Asda (supermarket) on the way home from work tonight & hook me up with this bratwurst craze & get some stella to cook them with.
@brad_snake412- Nice level idea. Were you watching the Simpsons when that one hit you?
@Nick- Yeah it has been confirmed as a glitch & the leaderboards were reset way back. The top score then was 2billion I think. I can get about 12million with no glitch & the run lasts a good few mins. But if you grab the explosive crate on the scaffholding below the donut & let go of it just as you hit the ground with the crate on top of you, every so often it will give you millions of points & your multiplier goes mad even though it dosen't change on screen. FWE also seems to have a glitch were you can get a ridiculous chain reaction. Most people at the top of those leaderboards are no where to be seen in the other modes nor here to be honest. I wouldn't recomend exploiting glitches as there is no credit due & no sense of satisfaction within yourself. Keep practising building up your multiplier till you get in the 15's 20's before using the cars.

Posted on 05.17.08 20:52 PM by mortal_sinner

@Mortal
Yeah, I can't wait to play you online in mime toss. I know there are a few variations of tosses I've messed with before that seemed like they could cut down time, but my success rate with them just wasn't worth the risk.
AND....CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR ENDEVOR INTO THE WORLD OF BRATWURST!!! You will not be dissapointed my friend.
If you decide to pan cook them, bring the beer to a boil at a med-high heat. Once it's boiling, throw in your brats then drop the heat/flame to low. Like simmer low. Flip the brats every 5 minutes, and let them cook for about 60 minutes.
They are much better tasting grilled though, (charcoal only) no propane bs.
For that, I recommend following the pan cook instructions, but do it only for 40 minutes. Finish them off on the grill. Flipping every 2 minutes over a low heat. (charcoals should be white with no flame) If you like onions or saurkraut look around online for recipes. Lots of people enjoy carmalizing onions first and topping their brats.

Posted on 05.18.08 00:39 AM by MutilatRJuggalo

...Once the brats are firm to the touch they are done. Oh yeah last thing...DO NOT PEIRCE THE CASING!!!! EVERY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!

@Juggs: Awww, now you made me hungry! And I can't even cook. Good thing my brother is stopping by tomorrow, the boy can cook Smile What type of beer would be good for this? Remember, I'm in Denmark, so I might not have specific brands unless they're international.

@Regulars: I know I know, most of you have already written this, but where the hell are all of you guys from? Most of you guys are Americans as I know most of you lucky bastards got to play PAIN before us mere Europeans Smile

@Coke: Nice, here's hoping there's no more hickups Smile

Posted on 05.18.08 08:48 AM by KnizzleHizzle

@Juggs - I like to cut my onions and peppers into thin strips and throw them in a frying pan for about 6-8 minutes with just enough olive oil to keep them from "cookin" too much. Maybe throw a little pepper in there as well.

@Knizzle - Chigago at the moment, but I move a lot, sometimes 40-50 times a year. HA! Not joking!!
